Colin Tennant is Britain's leading expert in Dog & Cat Behaviour; he has pioneered the psychological approach to solving problem pets' behaviour. He frequently appears on Television as an expert and is the first British Practitioner to write comprehensibly on the human and animal psychology relationships combined and place such information on education videos. He also produced Britain's most successful Pet Videos on Cats, Dogs, Fish & Rodents. He travels throughout the world lecturing on pet behaviour. He is also chairman of the Canine & Feline Behaviour Association of Britain. He is an expert in Wolf / Dog Behaviour which he has used to great benefit including members of the British Royal family. Colin Has qualified and won in Britain's top KC competitions. He is Britain's only pioneer in filming pet behaviour & dynamical relationships between people and their pets for college, university and general education.

 Canine & Feline Behaviour Centre, Hertfordshire

Colin has trained dogs and developed methods to improve their behaviour for 34 years. In 1981/2 he set up the Canine & Feline Behaviour Centre in Hertfordshire, where he gained much experience with animals, advising on a diverse range of behavioural problems and showing owners how to gain control. He also developed the Dog Detectives (Canine Behaviour) service in Central London. This involves attending the houses of the rich and famous including members of the British & Middle Eastern Royal families, Colin puts their pets into good psychological shape.

His Police Dog section experience helps him to detect and solve the mysteries of unusual dog behaviour. He also has an international client base and frequently visits the Middle East & South Africa.

Criminal & Civil UK Law:

Colin is a qualified expert witness to the Law Profession and regularly proffers expert advice in civil & criminal cases relating to Dogs & Cats. He is a expert witness in many cases at Crown Court level.

He is a Home office trained as a Police Officer in the UK and who can write evidence and prepare court documentation to the highest standard and according to the Police & Crown Prosecution Service evidence rules. The Dangerous Dogs act is the most common reason for others to call upon his skills in Britain, though he works in a variety of criminal law cases like the noise abatements act.

Civil law cases are of equal importance and Colin has successfully worked for the defence or prosecution whereby a professional opinion on dog behaviour and is required .

Rapid Response Specialist Behaviour Courses

Colin devised wrote and delivered throughout Britain two day workshops and was the first in Britain to develop film with clients discussing the psychology of problem dog behaviour and solutions. These were the forerunners of the Middlesex University modules and for 5 years they operated to develop the high standards we have today in canine behaviour work and delivering the same to students of the occupation.

Colin has filmed in Tanzania, South Africa & Kenya over a 4 year period wildlife. The footage he is now incorporating into the current Pets on Film Education series. NT courses for student learning and comparisons with domestic pets we keep.

Colin is a co founder and also Chairman of the above association and a founder member. He has advised the National Canine Defense League, R.S.P.C.A & many Canine Authorities.

Cheshire Police Dog Section

In 1975 Colin served in the Cheshire Police Dog Section where he qualified as a dog handler on a Government Home Office approved course. While there he did trial work, search and criminal training, and gave lectures. Colin is an approved Police: Home Office Dog Trainer.

The Pet Show (Barker Brown)

In May 1992 Colin was the show behaviourist for the Pet Show at Earls Court in London. Her lectured on behaviour and answered questions from the public on canine problems and obedience training. The Pet Show was organised by Barker Brown who also operate the Clothes Show Live as seen on the BBC.

BT Video Productions for Schools, Colleges & Universities - now called Pets on Film

Has been established since 1988 and is the only video company in Britain to specialise in Pet Trade, Veterinary, Canine & Feline behavioural Psychology and Animal Welfare productions. The scope of the company's expertise covers modest and large productions and now also includes corporate, training, recruitment and public information films.

They also produce their own Pet Care range which for many years has been the market leaders. Over the years many of the video projects entrusted to Bowe Tennant have received excellent press reviews for their quality.

 

Human Councelling and Hypnotherapy

Because of the incidents of aggression, pet loss, and similar inter Human/Canine relationships; Colin studied Counselling & Hypnotherapy at the UK College of Complimentary Health Studies London. The hypnotherapy skills her learnt are to assist children who have been attacked by dogs overcome their phobias and fears.

Dog Breeding

In his Hertfordshire kennels Colin has bred German shepherd dogs for many years. During his career beginning in the 1970,s, he has also bred corgis, border collies, great Danes and Irish wolf hounds. He also acts as an assessor of breed temperament for prospective clients. Copyright reserved 2000
