Home Dog behaviour Cat behaviour

Finn had previously been taken to see a 'Veterinary Behaviour Councellor' with regard to his barking problem. Finn barked at all people he encountered, all dogs, all cats, all shadows, the hoover, the washing machine, the ironing board, the curtains, cyclists, joggers, cars - you name it Finn barked at it!

Mrs Dunn had seen the behaviour councellor on two occasions and he prescribed a number of mind altering drugs (CFBA Practitioners do not condone the use of drugs in Behaviour). This worked initially, simply because Finn was in a complete daze most of the time and as reported by Mrs Dunn.

When Mrs Dunn contacted the centre, she was very upset. Finn was barking worse than ever and was still on the drugs and to make matters worse she had now resorted to covering her windows at home in grease proof paper so that Finn could not see out!

She arrived with Finn to the centre two days later and we immediately recommended she stop his prescribed drugs.

Ross McCarthy spent almost four hours with Mrs Dunn conducting temperament tests and commencing some retraining for Mrs Dunn to follow through at home.

She reported good results within a few days and also attended an eight week dog training course with us where we worked on his fear of dogs.

Mrs Dunn has now solved all of her problems fully, she has removed her Grease Proof paper and is enjoying her daily walks with a much quieter and reformed Finn.
